What is the height requirement for the slide pool (shallow, 1 slide, 3.5 ft pool)?
The height requirement is 3 ft 10 in. This height is set by the safety procedures outlined by the slide manufacturer. It is a safety requirement that must be met to prevent injury. Aqua Center Staff must abide by this safety rule.
Are children allowed down the slides with adults? Can my child use a USCG-approved flotation device on the slide?
No, all the aqua center slides are 1 person down at a time. Life vests are also not allowed on the slide apparatus for safety reasons. Patrons may become stuck or caught on the slide. This is in adherence to the safety procedures outlined by the slide manufacturer. It is a safety requirement that must be met to prevent injury. Aqua Center staff must abide by this rule.
Can I wait in the slide pool and catch my child as they slide down?
No, all the aqua center slides are a one-way street to prevent injury of individuals and staff. All slide participants must be able to enter & exit the pool unassisted by family members and lifeguard staff. Lifeguard staff are trained to respond to emergencies. It is a safety requirement that must be met to prevent injury. Aqua Center staff must abide by this rule.
If my child can’t swim, can they use the climbing wall? What about the plunge slide (10ft west pool slides)? Can they use a USCG-approved life vest?
No, all participants using the plunge slides and climbing wall MUST be able to swim independently. Participants must be comfortable jumping into the pool, swimming to the opposite side of the pool, and climbing out of the pool, without assistance, in order to use the 10 ft section. Non-swimmers, and those that are wearing a life vest, require an adult to be in the pool and no less than an arm's length away from a non-swimmer at all times. Both the slides and climbing wall only allow 1 person on the apparatus at a time.
Can my child use their swim school vest or water wings?
Only USCG-approved flotation devices are allowed in the pool. All vests must have the USCG stamp of approval in order to be worn. Aqua Center staff reserves the right to check any vest worn by a patron. The Aqua Center has USCG Approved Lifevests available for a deposit including vests for toddler age and up. Lifevests are first-come, first-serve.
Please remember that all non-swimmers (including those wearing a lifevest) must be within arm's length of an adult at all times.
Am I allowed to bring a raft or an inner tube?
No, but noodles are allowed as long as they are not used as flotation for non-swimmers. Rafts and inner tubes are not proper flotation devices and pose an added safety risk for non-swimmers and others. They also restrict the water view of the Lifeguard staff.
